CULTURAL EXCHANGE: Budapest, Osaka and London’s underground club cultures meet at AkvaWaves' upcoming event The global landscape of electronic music continues to evolve, with increasing attention drawn to the local scenes, communities and collectives shaping contemporary underground culture across Asia and Europe. On October 16, AkvaWaves brings this cultural exchange to Akvárium Klub, connecting Budapest with the underground club cultures of Osaka and London. Foremost the night focuses on RYOTA (JP), founder of Osaka-based collective FULLHOUSE and an active figure within Japan’s electronic music scene. As a DJ and curator, his work is built around community, genre-crossing approaches and international connections. His Boiler Room Osaka performance, appearances on Rinse FM and collaborations such as his back-to-back set with Fred again.. reflect the growing connection between Osaka’s club culture and the global electronic music network. Joining him YUNG SINGH (UK), the London-based DJ and producer whose work explores the intersection between UK club music and South Asian influences. Bringing together UK garage, jungle, bass music and elements of South Asian musical heritage, Yung Singh has become a recognised voice within contemporary club culture. He is a DJ Mag Breakthrough DJ of the Year recipient, BBC Radio 1 resident and has performed at events including Glastonbury and Sónar. Together, RYOTA and YUNG SINGH represent an ongoing cultural exchange between underground scenes, where artists and communities from Japan, the UK and beyond continue to shape the future of club music. The night will be warmed up by GEMCAMP, one of the leading duos in Hungary’s bass and UK club scene, and ENBÉBI, debuting as a support for the first time under an AkvaWaves event. The event will take place in a 360° setup.
